Two information on the Firefox field:
- If you feel like you are a beta tester, there is a pre release of Firefox and Thunderbird 2.0.0.15pre for use with Haiku (ore R5 BONE).
- Firefox as well as thunderbird uses what’s called the NetScape Portable Runtime (NSRP). This modules provides an OS independent API for Threads, Threads synchronization, I/O, Network addresses, Time, Memory management and Linking. There is a post on BeZilla covering the tentative to rewrite that library optimized for Haiku. Also discussed is the question to drop support for BeOS and Zeta.
- Firefox will not be the only browser for Haiku. Indeed, François mmu_man Revol is porting NetSurf on to Haiku. The port is already working in Zeta as you can see on this screenshot.
