During my recent shameful neglect of this site, BeBits updates continued to come in at a nice and steady pace. For a brief summary of some of the most interesting recent postings, read on.

Haiku nVidia TNT/GF driver
The only thing more certain than death and taxes is that Rudolf Cornelissen will release something cool every week or two, and this time it’s an update to the Haiku nVidia unified TNT/GeForce driver. The very, very summarized list of changes includes improvements in dual-head support and support for some features used by Rudolf’s alpha hardware 3d driver.

HaikuFox
Version 0.4.0 of tigerdog’s NetPositive-esque theme for Firefox was posted a few days ago. The new version honours the BeOS system setting for menu fonts, and also contains thematic support for the “Places” menu which is due to replace Firefox’s bookmarks toolbar / Personal Toolbar Folder.

JOE
An application that I’m personally quite fond of was update recently, the command line text editor JOE. It’s the best text editor I’ve found for terminal junkies who aren’t fans of vi’s modality, or EMACS’ keyboard shortcuts that appear to be designed with the express purpose of causing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Lyx for Bone
Chances are good that, if you’ve read the comments for any OSNews post related to word processing, you’ve heard of the TeX typsetting language – and how much better it is than everything else. I can’t personally speak to the last point, but if you’re interested in trying it out yourself, a port of the Lyx latex editor has been posted on BeBits (it appears to also require the BeOS X server port).
